iQOO launches iQOO Neo5 smartphone with Pixelworks technology to enhance 5G gaming experience

March 17, 2021 — Pixelworks, Inc. (NASDAQ: PXLW), a provider of industry-leading innovative vision processing solutions, today announced that the recently launched iQOO Neo5 in China is under vivo’s iQOO brand. The first product in the product line to use the Pixelworks X5 Pro processor to provide consumers with superb Display performance. The new flagship smartphone features Pixelworks’ patented technology that takes gaming to a whole new level with 5G ultra-high bandwidth.

In the past six months, iQOO and Pixelworks have worked closely together to improve the display performance of iQOO Neo5 smartphones on mainstream mobile games such as “Peace Elite”, “Honkai 3”, and “Perfect World”. iQOO Neo5 enhances the gaming experience by optimizing motion, color and clarity for high frame rates and high dynamic range (HDR), providing an immersive experience.

The Pixelworks X5 Pro Frame Accelerator reduces power consumption by up to 30% and device temperature by 10°C for smooth gameplay at 120 frames per second compared to rendering all frames in the application processor. With Pixelworks’ MotionEngine technology, phone users don’t need to worry about battery drain or phone overheating, as they can play high frame rate games for up to an hour or more.

The new iQOO performance flagship Neo5 uses a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, a local peak brightness of 1300 nits, and a pixel density of 397ppi. The iQOO Neo5, powered by the Pixelworks X5 Pro processor, implements many differentiated features:

  MotionEngine Technology –The patented Motion Estimation and Motion Compensation (MEMC) feature optimizes game content and renders the display at 120 frames per second; thus eliminating unintended jitter and blur to maintain expected motion rendering.

  Absolute Color Accuracy – Every iQOO Neo5 phone is factory-tuned with Pixelworks’ patented high-efficiency calibration software and runs Pixelworks color management software on the display processor to ensure excellent color reproduction across standard, wide and custom color gamuts.

  Full Time HDR Mode – Use real-time SDR to HDR conversion to bring out more detail and gradation for the vast majority of SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) format game content for a full-time immersive experience.
